The Social Work Organization

As a student interested in helping others, you will be surrounded by other service-minded individuals when you join the Social Work Organization. The Social Work Organization is actively committed to pursuing community service projects and fostering professional development among its members. The Social Work Organization strives to offer networking opportunities to its members by introducing them to Saint Rose social work alumni. Through this organization you will gather to discuss common interests with other social work majors and form long-lasting friendships.

Mentoring

Our Mentoring Faculty

The social work faculty at Saint Rose prides itself on offering a high level of individual attention to students. Together, social work majors and faculty members attend national and local conferences and workshops, where they co-present on various topics, providing a forum for interaction with experienced professionals in the field. Often, students gain insight into the issues facing today’s social workers and make valuable contacts that are helpful in obtaining full-time jobs after graduation.

In addition, your education will never be in the hands of a teaching assistant-all Saint Rose social work majors are taught and advised by full-time professors. However, you are always eligible for additional assistance from a social work graduate assistant whenever you need further explanation or clarification on a topic.

Field Experience

As a Saint Rose social work major you will complete two field experiences, totaling three semesters of hands-on training. You and your advisor will work together to customize your internship to your area of interest or specialization.
